I don’t really have all that much to say about Companion so I am going to keep it short and sweet. After killing a local millionaire, Iris (Sophie Thatcher), now must stay alive as her boyfriend, Josh (Jack Quaid) and his friends, hunt her down and frame her for murder. However, Iris is not your everyday person, she is a robot, whose programming has been compromised by her human boyfriend. What ensues is a wildly entertaining horror comedy that is dripped in blood, sweat, and camp. The success of Companions’ programming is its tight script that is as clever as it is funny. Whether it is the unique situations that Iris has to figure out how to get out of, or the commentary on controlling relationships, Companion makes for an exhilarating ride. And with great performances from Gen Z Scream Queen, Sophie Thatcher, and from Jack Quaid, who has a very punchable face in this movie and I mean that as a compliment, fun times will be had by all.
My Rating: B+
